Our Tokyo Cityscapes series examines the unique architecture and look of Tokyo. This time our topic is renovation. Recent renovations of old wooden homes and unused buildings are giving structures a new lease of life while preserving their historic atmosphere. The key lies in urban design that goes beyond architecture. This style of renovation takes into account the lifestyles of residents, and how to build community bonds.
