The history of one of the world's most famous hotels, which is in London's Mayfair and has welcomed the rich and famous for more than two hundred years, hosting everyone from Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy to Tom Hanks and the Beckhams. In Queen Victoria's time, it became known as the annexe to Buckingham Palace and during the 1950s there were three kings, three queens, 10 princesses and princes, and 12 heads of state all staying at the same time.
