Dauntless is called to St. Petersburg to participate in a joint group that the ministry is forming as part of the investigation of the gang case. Alice joined him on the trip, dreaming of visiting St. Petersburg universities. Arriving at his destination, Dauntless is met with a cold reception. Semenov, who doesn't need him here at all, easily agrees to send a Reckless Driver to the most remote areas of the region to check suspicious cars, one of which the gang could use to attack. After checking all the options, the Reckless Driver finds a car that matches the description, and then the first suspect– former traffic cop Kapaev. Semenov, who by that time had lost all other options, immediately seized on this version.
