Super Password

Super Password

Sinopse

Second revised version of the classic Mark Goodson game show, where celebrity-contestant teams conveyed passwords using one-word clues.

Hosted by Bert Convy, who was at the time available, it contains superficial changes to its predecessor Password Plus. It was hosted since 1961 by the same man, Allen Ludden, who died in the middle of Password Plus. He was replaced by Tom Kennedy until the run ended entirely; Tom Kennedy was hosting Body Language when Super Password was in development. Its purpose was to continue the legacy of Password without needing to awkwardly fill the shoes of its legacy host. Allen Ludden's wife Betty White, who assisted in the elegant design of every Password set, participated on this version also.

There are two or three main differences from Password Plus:

A CA$HWORD is added to the game play in which an impossible word assigned to guess.

Alphabetics is now called Super Password; The game's title refers to the bonus round.

Some time during Allen Ludden's tenure, it was not allowed to use direct opposites of the words. In Super Password, you can now use them again.

Also Gene Wood returned to announce in some of the episodes. Bert Convy would go on to package game shows of his own while still hosting Super Password. One of them being Win Lose Or Draw.
