The life of successful lawyer and law school professor Marta Orlova changes dramatically in just one day. She discovers that her fiancé and colleague, Artem, is cheating on her, and her stepfather, the head of Marta's firm who raised her after her mother's death, sides with Artem, claiming Marta's marriage to the son of General Nikolsky is beneficial to both families.

Finding herself without support or the ability to continue working with her stepfather and Artem, Marta decides to open her own law firm, focusing on helping people who are unable to afford legal services.
