Anna is a young woman with great prospects. She's finishing her studies and has been offered a place at Stanford University. Ahead lies a bright future and the chance to start a new life in the United States with her beloved, who also happens to be her academic advisor. But everything changes when her mother dies unexpectedly. Anna soon discovers that Stanford will only accept one of them. Her beloved hides this from her and leaves for the U.S. alone, shattering her dreams and leaving her to face her grief alone.
Years pass. Anna builds a new life, happily married to her high school friend Illia and raising their son. But tragedy strikes again: their son, taking a friend's car without permission, accidentally hits two pedestrians. To avoid a court case, Anna and Illia decide to visit the victims in the hospital to settle the matter. To her shock, Anna discovers that one of the injured is Oleh—the man who broke her heart years ago. The past resurfaces, threatening to upend their lives once more.
